Correct answer
(A) Only conclusion I and conclusion II are correct
Solution
Based on the statements:
1.Some bottles are cups (I-type statement).
2.All cups are knives (A-type statement).
From syllogism rules:- Conclusion I: Combining Statement 1 and Statement 2 (Some are + All are Some are ), we get 'Some bottles are knives'. This is correct.
- Conclusion II: From Statement 2 (All cups are knives), we can immediately infer 'Some knives are cups' (conversion of A-type). This is correct.
- Conclusion III: 'All cups are bottles' cannot be inferred from 'Some bottles are cups'. Only 'Some cups are bottles' is valid. This is incorrect.
- Conclusion IV: 'All knives are cups' cannot be inferred from 'All cups are knives'. Only 'Some knives are cups' is valid. This is incorrect.
