Question
Bernoulli’s equation CANNOT be applied between
Correct answer
(A) any two arbitrary points in the flow field for steady incompressible rotational flow
Solution
Bernoulli's equation is derived based on the assumptions of steady, incompressible, and inviscid flow. For such a flow, the quantity is constant along a streamline. If the flow is also irrotational, this constant is the same throughout the entire flow field, allowing the equation to be applied between any two arbitrary points. However, if the flow is rotational, the constant varies from one streamline to another. Therefore, Bernoulli's equation cannot be applied between any two arbitrary points in a rotational flow field; it can only be applied along a single streamline.
