Question
A planar rectangular paper has two V-shaped pieces attached as shown below.
This piece of paper is folded to make the following closed three-dimensional object.
The number of folds required to form the above object is

Correct answer
(A) 9
Solution
To form the closed V-shaped 3D object from the net:
1.The main rectangular strip must be folded to form the 6 rectangular faces (outer left, outer right, two top faces, inner left, inner right). This requires 5 folds along the length of the strip.
2.The two V-shaped end pieces are attached to the strip. Folding them up to be perpendicular to the strip requires 2 folds (one for each end piece).
3.Each V-shaped end piece itself must be bent in the middle to match the V-profile of the strip. This requires 1 fold per end piece, totaling 2 folds.
Total number of folds = .Continue learning with Success Tracker
