The lateral deflection (δ\delta) of the bar is given by δ=PL312EI\delta = \frac{PL^3}{12EI}, where LL is the effective length of the column, EE is the Young's modulus of elasticity and II is the area moment of inertia of the column cross-section with respect to its neutral axis.
