A homogeneous shaft PQRPQR with fixed supports at both ends is subjected to a torsional moment TT at point QQ, as shown in the figure. The polar moments of inertia of the portions PQPQ and QRQR of the shaft with circular cross-sections are J1J_1 and J2J_2, respectively. The torsional moment reactions at the supports PP and RR are TPT_P and TRT_R, respectively.
